Spa Serenity An Affair on the Square

By Lacey Steffes, Owner of Spa Serenity

Twenty years of Spa Serenity in Downtown Baraboo feels almost impossible to say out loud.

In 2006, I was 25 years old and stepping into a dream I could only begin to imagine. I had no idea that the little adventure I was starting would grow into two decades of connection, community, and purpose. What began as a small business became something so much bigger than me. It became a place where women could come to rest, recharge, reconnect, and simply be cared for.

As I began thinking about how to celebrate 20 years, I found myself reflecting on our 10th and 15th anniversary celebrations. For 10 years, we hosted a Farm to Pavement Dinner right down the center of 3rd Street, and for 15 years, we gathered at Harvest at Ski-Hi Orchard for a beautiful evening surrounded by nature. Both celebrations were incredibly special, and both were made possible by the amazing community clients, supporters, friends, and small business champions who have carried Spa Serenity through the years.

Both of those milestone celebrations also gave back to the Baraboo Area Boys & Girls Club, and that has always mattered deeply to me. I believe when we invest in the children of our community, we invest in the future of our town. We help create confidence, belonging, and pride in the place they call home. So as we approached 20 years, I naturally started dreaming big.

At first, I imagined a grand celebration. A full-scale evening on the courthouse lawn. Hundreds of guests. Big music. Multiple food vendors. A huge community party in the center of Downtown Baraboo. And while it would have been unforgettable, somewhere in the planning process I realized something important: bigger doesn’t always mean better.

The more I worked through the details, the more I realized I wanted this celebration to feel more like Spa Serenity. More intentional. More meaningful. More connected. More giving.  So, Affair on the Square was re imagined.

Instead of a large public event, Spa Serenity’s 20th Birthday Celebration will be a more intimate gathering. A beautiful evening created for women. A night to celebrate sisterhood, connection, growth, and the power of women supporting women.

This event is for the women who are doing all the things every single day. The women balancing careers, families, friendships, businesses, caregiving, goals, and growth. The women who are constantly trying to become the best version of themselves while somehow still remembering to show up for everyone else.

If Spa Serenity has ever been a small part of your self-care, your healing, your confidence, or your journey, this celebration is for you.

I feel so grateful that Spa Serenity has become a place where women can slow down and reconnect with themselves. That is exactly what I want this evening to reflect.

A magical summer night under the clock tower of the Sauk County Courthouse. A table full of inspiring women. Good food. Good conversation. Laughter under the stars. And a celebration of 20 years of Spa Serenity, while also raising funds for the Baraboo Area Boys & Girls Club.

After 20 years, one thing is very clear to me: Spa Serenity has never just been about spa services. It has always been about people. It has always been about women. It has always been about creating a space where care, connection, and community matter.

And this celebration feels like the perfect way to honor that.

I truly hope you’ll celebrate with us. 🤍
